Post by gambogaz1 »

Any of you noticing pubs shutting ?
I've had 3 in as many weeks close their doors my way. 1 was a yates!!

Also my local spoons has just cut their machines down from 4 to 3. It just had to be the Vortex they got rid of though!! :x

Strangely the Yates in my town shut down the other week, expect it will re-open as something else in the future though.

The company that owned Yates and another chain IIRC went into recievership.
They immediately shut alot of the less profitable and loss making locations.
Times are indeed dire if a chav filled yates doesn't make any money.

I've only had one pub shut down recently, the brewery is just refurbing it, the closure was down to bad sales and bad management, apart from that pubs are flourishing here as usual.

I've still never been in a pub with more than 2 machines either.

Could that be something to do with different licensing laws, i've never been in a pub in Scotland with more than 2 machines, however there is a Wetherspoons in Edinburgh with 4 quizzers, all in a row.

The now shut Yates had 3 machines, but most pubs in area have 2 except for spoons that has 5 plus a quizzer.

Newport Yates shut last month. Although the chav ratio remains high.

I read a statistic recently that said pubs are closing at the rate of 4 a week!
My village local is struggling, and has had 3 landlords in one year.

Now i know how a few on here hate the smokers! but i like a smoke with me pint whilst playing the bandit (did) anyways PUBS =

1 - no smoking
2 - £2.80 for a stella £3 for a vodi n coke, near £4 for a glass of wine,£2.50 a shot (serious wallet damage if ya with the missus)
3 - no pool tables/dart boards in pubs close to me
4 - Shit bandits like CC and OTB, the list goes on and on
5 - Shit bandits that take £10+ for a £2 board
6 - Dull atmosphere threw the week, sometimes even a weekend.

why would i want to go to the pub.
how about a greasy pork sandwich served in a dirty ashtray.

they only have themselves to blame. Nobody goes to the pub on a week night no more.

Yates in Milton Keynes & Stevenage have both closed down recently when i visited. Shame really, usually good money to be had..
