FRUITCHAT's CLAIMS TO FAME....

Post by king_conspiracy »

Due to the recent uncovering of certain members of this websites fame..... Im sure they will reveal all later, I have decided to make this post entitled :-

"fruitchats claim to fame".

Basically any time you met a famous person, celebrity, were on the tv/radio, anything else V.I.P or fame-inducing you can remember - tell your story here.

The only thing I can think of is i've been on TV a few times. I work in music promotion and we've had MTV and a few other companies come down and film gigs before, ive been interviewed, or just been hanging out with a band and theyve passed by and filmed.
Also a bands/acoustic artists competition I entered where i played an Acoustic set, was filmed for some cable channel....

As for famous people.....

John Fashanu, Jim Bowen, Abi Titmuss, The Kooks, We are Scientists, Mighty Might bosstones, millencollin, Less than Jake are a few of the famous people/bands ive either met or shared a brief word with.

Im sure that can be easily beaten :)

Right. I'll go first....

As you've no doubt gathered, I was on Countdown a few years ago. It was held on the Monday in Leeds, so I decided the best course of action would be to go on a 3 day bender beforehand and turn up at the studios feeling terrible, slightly-reeking of drink, and in no mood to have my name ridiculed by twice-nightly Whiteley.

Anyway, I did alright, considering the circumstances. I was in the lead for most of it, made up a couple of words which didn't exist (like FLIRTERS), got to the last numbers round, forgot my 2 times table and fell 11 points behind for the conundrum.

All my friends and family were in the audience, and it was a great day out. In the unlikely event that you are ever round at my da's house. he'll probably make you watch a video of The Main Event. I look so thin and ill in it (I spent the next 4 days in bed with the flu). I've never watched Countdown since.

What's far more interesting, however, is reading the names of famous people we've met....

Apart from the Countdown crew (including Barry Norman), I've met Philip Schofield, Stefan Dennis (twice), Patrick Kielty, Right Said Fred, Chris de Burgh (the last 3 used to come to this piano bar I worked in), Dannii Minogue (interviewed her for the Ulster Newsletter no less), er... Alan McManus ....umm.... this really is the bottom of the barrel now... Black Lace!

she is stunning.

on a personal level i have been on a few naff tv quizshows, and 'that's life' with esther rantzen when i was a cub. i met russ abbott and grotbags in the bbc canteen. i've also met christopher reeve, will young and ellen macarthur.
on a professional level, part of my job is interviewing slebs which is not as glamorous as it sounds, mostly w-listers like big brother clowns. but a few of the good ones: jerry springer, steven spielberg, claudia schiffer, andrew flintoff, sadie frost, matt lucas, various politicians, paul whitehouse, erm rik waller...

anyway by far and away the best celebrity i have related to gambling is nationwide exposure with this:

lol the closest i have ever been to fame is being on sky sports news. i am a true pompey fan (Portsmouth to those who have no interest in football) and was on sky sports not long before the season ended. i was interviewed about the games outcome and if pompey were gonna stay up!

thats about it for me tho! btw, i agree with 'unknownpseudonym' about danni being stunning!! lol

Too many famous people eh!

I've yapped to Fern Britton at the Good food show at the NEC, and got her autograph somewhere. I've also got an autograph that broken legged blonde from Man Utd (Alan Smith).

I also have guru status on FC, does that count? I don't think anyone else has that as of yet! :P :D (see http://fruitchat.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=4071 and http://fruitchat.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=4079 for more info on that one!)

I played football on sky sports back in 1996

It was the finals of the national 5 a side competition.
We were beaten on penalties in the final.
Alan Parry and Frank McLintock were the comentators.

I was shown scoring a goal early on and a penalty in the shootout.

Nick Hancock handed out the trophies.

I still have the video of it as well.

Also played in some other national 5 a side tournament at Highbury on their indoor 5 a side pitch
We did not make it past the group stage.
There i met:
Ron Atkinson
Terry Venables
Trevor Brooking
Alan Curbishley
Martin Keown

These were good times
Sadly the team split a couple of year back due to kids, marriage etc...
Old age :D

Jake the Snake is a pitiful remnant of a wrestler....He came to our Uni a few years back and the head of Entertainments chatted with him.
Hes now addicted to Crack and gambling apparently, he was an absolute mess, safe to say they wont be inviting him again.

Still cool to have met him in his more "stable" days.

I sat next to Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards at a Fulham v Burnley game, and Nurse Duffy (the ginger-haired one who used to be in Casualty) at Old Trafford. She promptly shattered my angelic illusion of her by describing Roy Keane as a 'complete cunt'. Can't fault her for accuracy, though!

I went to the Queen's garden party about ten years ago and had the misfortune of shaking Prince Phillip's hand; the late Mo Mowlam came to my shop to sign copies of her book and gave me a kiss, bless her; Jamie Oliver did the same (signed books, NOT the kissing bit, fools!); as did Alan Titchmarsh and the absolutely top-blokey Tommy Walsh.

Martina Hingis held a door open for me in the players' cafeteria at Wimbledon; met Chris Tarrant at a charity cricket match at the Oval; Jimmy Hill helped me with my homework in the boardroom after a Fulham game when I was little; bumped into the lovely Helen 'Hells Bells' Chamberlain, who only lives round the corner from me, in the bookies where I met her boyfriend - leg in plaster - he was the Plymouth centre-half who was carried off the field with a broken leg two minutes before the Carlisle goalkeeper famously scored in injury time to keep Carlisle in the football league.

And worst till last - as a little boy I used to fancy Bonnie Langford. No shame. Still never met her but a string of letters went backwards and forwards over the years and still got a delightful photo tucked safely away!
