ATEI - Report

Post by bigpokercouk »

Well I was there all day today and I have to say the fruits I saw were garbage in fact barcrest were showing off a manic muncher and bellfruit a DOND dream factory so very little to report..

My happy moment was getting chucked out of the bell fruit stand for hitting the rolls and taking the piss out the MD, he he ... mugs!

leisure link and gamestec didnt turn up and the manufacturers didnt want to bring any fruits with them, weird!

Good show tho, fairly legitimate visit as I have a business interest in the casino gambling sector but the fruit side of things was pathetic for sure.

My favourite machine of the show was Big Tony's Hold Em on the Nova stand.

I think I can beat Tony and would love a crack at the B3 for real money

102% payout on the Hold-Em game with optimal stategy. Play like that for a while and watch those reels tighten up...

It was a very well-presented game though. Nova put a lot of thought and effort into their games for sure.

I believe the operator doesn't pay for the machine, and simply splits the cashbox with NOVA every week. Should suit all those skint operators perfectly...

I'm sorry that the manufacturers haven't factored 'lining your fucking pockets' into their product strategy this year...

I must apologise to Mr. Invincible and his missus for not showing up yesterday - things got rather impossible at work just at the wrong time. Sorry about that - hopefully we can meet up for a beer another time somewhere soon.

I managed to walk round for a whole 45 minutes today however, just to take in a sample of the new stuff and try and nab a few free spins.

The best thing about the ATEI is the sheer size of it; the money splashed out on fancy displays is nice and the noise of beeping games all over the place is great. But the quality of the product was sadly lacking on the ATEI side - whereas there was some great stuff on the ICE side.

Biggest disappointment - the girls! There were hardly any ... and the ones that were strutting their stuff in their bikinis weren't exactly smiling. The girl on the corner of the JCM stand wearing a white/flowery bikini top and white hotpants was my personal fave. She had a lovely arse.

Machines: Lots of dire rubbish - the Barcrest stand was bleak and uninviting - too much export crap although there were a couple of decent-looking clubbers; the Games Media stand was very big but the games pretty poor - with a big slant towards those Juice video AWPs in evidence; the Bellfruit stand was ridiculous - was it really necessary to put all those Skill DONDs in a line? DOND Dream Factory/Bully's Star Prize/Club Pots of Gold ... more of the same :( Encouragingly, no-one was playing them :)

The Empire offerings looked as cheap as always - did anyone notice the machine called Storm Force with dual stake 25/50p? Interesting that it (and a couple of others) were geared for £40 Jackpot on the higher stake.

I thought the B3s and other casino games in the ICE exhibition looked very impressive. There were some 7-reelers on the Apex stand, the reels were so squashed up that they barely fitted on the screen! The IGT stand was very impressive, with some of the progressives seemingly having no-limit jackpots. The Indiana Jones-themed one looked good. Everything seemed to be in Euros, which reflected the number of different European accents and chequebooks gawping at them. Some of the roulette offerings were stunning.

Upstairs, the arcade games/penny pushers/etc were packed out with bored players, children and others - quite how any business deals were wrapped up with any of those companies with that racket going on I'll never know.

All-in-all, I would liked to have had more time to play, but the show was as glitzy in parts as always; the shift in emphasis from old-fashioned to new-fangled was more glaring than ever. The coming year will be rammed full of DOND variations too - that is for certain.
This machine may at times offer a choice where the player has every chance of bankruptcy

I've only been going for the past five years or so, but this year was definitely the quietest by a long shot. On the Tuesday, people were telling me, "Oh it's quiet today - will pick up tomorrow." There was a time when you couldn't move on Weds for bodies. Not this week.

In contrast to Nixxy, I did meet Mr and Mrs Invincible and probably talked complete bollocks for an hour. Anyway, only they can be the judge of that!! In my book it can be good to associate Internet usernames with real people though. A sound couple - I hope they won't mind me mentioning them in public.

Not sure what girls you were looking at Nixxy. Did you have your L and R contact lenses mixed up? To be fair, I went to the Electrocoin party on Tuesday night and my friend Dannii was only booked for that, whereas in previous years she and her friend have manned the stand all day. Everyone's cut back budget wise.

There was, as always, some serious suited and booted f*****s in the ICE section - tales of Russians bumping each other off etc. The Novomatic stand lived up to the usual expectations: can be seen on Google Earth and giving away food and drink all day to all and sundry. Best part of a million went into that.

Yeah, I spent most of my time yesterday upstairs on the Sega / Konami / Namco booths (which seemed well stocked with girls in hotpants too).

Booth babes can be irritating though - I was about to first all three races in Sega Race TV, when one of them wandering around holding a microphone cried out "And don't forget the boost button!" and slammed her hand down on the one on my machine. I'm sure she was trying to be helpful, but she sent me crashing into a wall and I ended up sixth!

I went and shot people on Silent Hill for half-an-hour after that...

The B3 didn't have reels. straight into the poker.

I was sworn to that not only are the cards dealt randomly, but that Big Tony has no idea what you have. The % is worked out as 100% for you vs him if you play exactly as well as Tony, plus 2% for the hand bonuses for four of a kind, straight flush and royal flush. Because most people, top class poker players included, are pretty poor heads up, they are happy that if a really strong player gets on it, they'll only be getting other players losses and it'll still make money.

Bring it on Big Tony.

I'm really looking forward to seeing 'Big Tony'. That must be a huge, huge, nightmare to program.

Was sent by my boss to play Big Tony, what a great game as I am a poker player. Couldn't speak with any of the Nova people as they may recognise me even though I had a badge from an operator my boss kindly supplied. Cloak and dagger!!!
Anyway had few hours playing and my comments were the graphics are great the cat c 50p £35 machine was good but really liked the B2, 100 quid in 500 out. Watched a couple of people playing they didn't have a clue. When this game hits the streets better watch out for it if you can play texas cause the idiots will supply the players with nice pots of cash. Get practising but it ain't easy. The comment on the programming being hard, well don't think it would be that hard. Anyway we aren't going to copy Nova, they have a nasty habit of suing companies so my boss says. Talking about copying QPS had a 3 player Eyes Down SWP copy of Skill Ball blimey its a bit late Skill ball been around for years and on all the terminals, must indicate the sorry state DOND Inc must be in. Rumour has it that BF have lost the licence for DOND.
