Fruit Machine Chat

Hi,

I know this is a bit of a stupid question, but what advantage does a 'key' give you on a fruit machine. my mates just bought one for a fiver.

If you dont know how to play the fruit in the first place it gives you no advantage atall.

Presume you mean a refill key?

It just shows you the balance of the hopper and a few other useless things. Many pubs do daily refils now so its not always an acurate reading anyway. Handy to have one tho if you know your pub(s) audit/refill days.

If it says refill X 6 then it means that the machine is £6 from full.

It's used to display how much the machine NEEDS in order to be full. On older machines it will show how much is IN the machine, whereas these days it shows how much it NEEDS. (A fruit machine without a note changer holds £125, a machine with a note changer holds £250).

When you put the key in it will show something like "REFILL X 100" on the screen. The only thing you are interested in is the figure on the right. This means it needs £100 to be put in the machine before it is full. (Meaning that there is either £150 or £25 inside the machine).

However, please be advised that these days refill keys are next to useless. People playing with notes and most pubs doing daily refills means the reading that you get is never really relative to the machine's playing state.

Bear in mind that refill keys are by no means entirely useless ... they can often keep you out of trouble.

For instance, depending on where you live, there may still be pubs which do not refill machines at all during the course of the week. A Refill Key helps to monitor these.

A very busy Wetherspoons is a good place to have a refill key handy, as a full machine at 10pm can be a profitable machine in a well played location.

Lol, delivery was £1.97 actually, meaning i spent £1.99 in total. I'm sure you can get them for about £1 though from a locksmith?
