New Boy - some questions/theories

, just want to say hello and say that the site is a good read, so much of it!
With the exception of programming faults, emptiers etc, surely a machine knows where it is in relation to its % payout and as soon as you put your money in, say a fiver, it knows what it will pay out. So, on this basis is it just not worth gambling up the cash stacks rather than playing features etc cos at the end of it you are going to get the same amount out of the machine irrespective? Obviously less entertaining though!
Secondly, what sort of cash should I take out with me in order to stand a fair chance at forcing a machine successfully?
Finally, serious offer, I have transport, based in Thames Valley/West London, happy to meet up with serious/experienced player and drive them around FOC, happy to cover most of south and midlands, if they show me how to play. This is a genuine offer.
btw I'm not a 17 yr old hopeful who has just passed test. PM if interested.
