Other chains have done this also. A bar manager told me they have bigger hoppers that never get fully floated - £600+ and the note cassettes get loaded now as part of the float, so no need for so many coins....believe what you will. I think the 2nd option is more common case.

I seen a gamestec woman float each machine with the previous hopper and 100 in notes. Given the change in attitude tho, it begs the question as to why spoons daily floated in the first place. I assumed it was coz punters got suckered by the fat cash box.

I always figured if I owned a pub I'd float my machines to £200. Provides a certain protection against shenanigans and is otherwise unlikely to go empty. And if someone did get a big win then refill it to get the notey back on.
