ok, so i just used my credit card to deposit £250 onto a bingo/slots site...

its a new card and i was basicly thinking id have a gamble, probably lose, then owe the money.. im looking at getting a mortgage in a year or so, so need to maintain a line of credit etc..

i won, about a grand more than i deposited, the casino wants to pay it back to the card... which will take the credit card into a positive ( + ) balance......

what happens in this senario? im assuming the card company will reject the payment?

I'm pretty sure you can have a positive balance on a credit card. Just spend it.

I had a similar thing a few years back. Came second in a $10 freezout. $700 went to my card, gave me credit. Was a shame, it was about £460 at the time, would have been nice to hold the cash but at the same time, I had no CC bill that month :)

Spend it as it earns 0 interest and also don't withdraw as cash as they will still charge you!

If the goal is to improve your credit rating, don't use credit cards for online gambling. These types of transactions are classed as "cash advances" and are viewed negatively when assessing an individuals credit worthiness.

Yeah, and if your applying for a mortgage, any online payments to bookies that appear on statements will be classed as a monthly expense - they assume you have a habit and will reduce the amount the bank will offer you. Any deposits aren't offset either, they only care about cash out. Happened to me last week, cunts.

get it as a possitive balance, then just withdraw the cash

Fuck. I just thought the account being active would put a good mark on credit report, didn't even consider them wanting to see the transaction history, in gunna have a hard time explaining why there's over 2k on a £500 card... Lol

I'll just buy everything on the card for the next few months and miss off the first page of the statement when I use it...
