Fruit Machine Chat

Have you ever won a court case battle regarding fruit machines,
Have you ever been up there in court defending yourself.

I did way back in 1985, i was playing the BARCREST Exchanges Unlimited £3 Jackpot fruit machine on Southend On Sea Sea Front, in the Amusement Arcade when i started to use one of those electric lighters on the fruit machine, i got a tap on my shoulder from the arcade attendent &i was held until the police arrived, 9 months later the case was held at the crown court, i had requested for the crown court because i wanted an audiance, anyway the prosecuter told me that even though the clicker did nothing to the fruit machine apart from resseting it, the fact that i thought that using the clicker on the fruit machine might pay out was enough to charge me of this crime,
Anyway i wanted to defend myself & i wanted to represent myself on the stand, i said "i used the clicker to cancel the feature, i am a gambler & as a gambler of course i wanted to win on the fruit machine.
Needless to say i won the case, my soliciter shook my hand & congratulated me,
These days i don't carry any devices. :P

Why would you need a solicitor if you was defending yourself?

The case took at least 9 months to be heard, i needed a solicitor to give me the court dates & it was a last minute idea i had, i wanted my solicitor to know that i was a good as him to win my own case.

This story was true, i swear on fruit chat really,

My court case story was 100% correct, like i said in my past posts, i am not like any other professional, i am brave & I WILL STAND UP FOR MYSELF.
I have more than 25 years of fruit machine experience, i have more fruit machine stories than you have had hot dinners.

yeah i have twice he was shit so i sacked him on the spot and done it my self it is possible to do it in magistrates but i expect crown would be differant!

There's no way a Crown judge would hear a case as trivial as that, unless you have a stunningly huge criminal record and a custodial sentence was necessary. Please quit talking bollocks.

I worked in an arcade on 84-5 and the static reset did work as a fiddle on these barcrest machines with the metal slots. Not defending john, but the story rings true. Staff used to go round throwing water on the floor to discourage this type of activity.

In 1985 i was offered the choice of a magerstrates court or a crown court,
I chose a crown court as i thought i could win, these days i don't think that you can choose.

I remember catching an old bloke with a middle aged bloke who popped the button off a electro red bar (one I brought in the end) and had a clicker with 2 wires goin into the button and was fooking the machine up.

So got the owner and we confronted them and the old one was sweating like mad and they just walked away and would not answer nothing, leaving the clicker and button still popped off. I dont know if they won or not but I only noticed as it was nudging nearly every press and the lights where goin mental.. oh and the clicking noise was a bit of a give away

Agreed! I cant think of any players who have been convicted, just toolers and some fool who did the notey trick in the same pub every day!
