Daylight Robbery Hopper Issues

Hi, just bought my first bandit for the house and am having a few small problems. The machine works fine on free (or fun) mode, ie all of the reels spin and lights work. However when it is switched onto cash mode it doesn't recognize that there is money inside the hopper. I worked this out after trying to do a hopper dump and the display said that it was empty but i had just stuck £125 into it, but as im new to this i could be wrong. When its fired up the machine displays "ALM 48" for a few seconds while beeping, then goes on to say that there is an outstanding pay out due for £4.00 which it cant pay (even though its full of cash) I'd really like to get this machine going, but after a morning of google-ing everything to do with bell fruit and daylight robbery I am still no further forward. I cant find an instruction manual, and don't really know where to start looking for spares so any advice on sorting this fault would be great.
