New pound coin
On the plus side I put one little quid into a 'Powerplay' machine today. the Powerplay button flashed up and jumped to three blue sevens and then GATW came up on the screen. Paid me out in eight tenners and twenty pound coins. Meant that I was up on the day seeing as more than half of the pubs I was visiting had got rid of their quizzers.
that wouldn't help (well apart from the shape of the coin).harry2 wrote:The Butlins/ seaside arcades could pay out in £1 tokens, which could be exchanged for real money at the cash desk or like those machines you feed the coins in to change up for notes. A little like cashing your chips in at a casino.
hoppers will still need to be altered for the new token and mechs changed/reprogammed for the new coin and and perhaps token.
you would also have the new problem of machines running empty of the tokens, you couldn't use the refil key to refil a hopper with tokens without an alteration to the program and possibly machine wiring...
could get messy really quick.
all the manufactureres and large suppliers should get their heads together and agree a unified course of action.
but of course that won't happen, will be a shambles , just the same as it was with the 10p change over
well it seems the industry already has a part solution for the new coin.
anyone heard of the smart hopper?
