I've re-visited this thread not that I have anything particularly novel to say (no change there then) but because I think this is the key point as to whether quizzies are going to survive in any decent numbers or whether it is the last rites. For all the problems and possible improvements we've highl...

Hex Appeal would self-remove,as did Secret Letter. It's a blunt tool to remove the game because someone's forcing money out of it,that was particularly true with Secret Letter as the jackpot would drop down to a quid - were they worried about people spending ten minutes or so trying to repeatedly win...

Some good posts by everybody - Topical,SoccerHQ,paragoon and Nil Satis. In your last post,Nil,I think you said what I was trying to say but expressed it more eloquently. You don't fancy emailing that post off to GWHL,Gamestec,Regal and anyone else you can think of,do you? Funnily enough,SoccerHQ,I was...

So,to point out a few things: Every so often a machine is so ridiculously loud that it's embarrassing playing it.It used to be possible to completely turn the volume off on Paragons, could you bring that feature back? Fat Cat softworks: It seems that you are now responsible for the content on both Ga...

But a 50p spin on a fruit machine takes a second. A 50p game on a quiz machine can last you 5 minutes or more often with no significant prize (or any enjoyment) in sight. It's pretty clear why both players and operators prefer fruit machines. Well,my point there was that I would like to see a game ...

if they had a game like you said that had a better jackpot that visibly got easier then you pros would be all over it and they would constantly be stone dead, as is what happens with the fruit machines! if there were no pros quiz machines would still be like in the 90s.... You might be right about ...

Can anything be done? Part 95

Call me a born optimist, but I still think it can.My anecdotal evidence is that while the drip-drip disappearance of quzzies is still happening,I have also seen machines still getting a fair bit of play by people gathered round, often of a student age. When I walk into a Wetherspoons or somewhere simil...

Put your dictionarys back in your satchels you lot killed your own scene. Most Paragons end up in librarys checking books art nobers No,I don't agree that professional players have been particularly signficant in the decline of quiz machines - there aren't that many players after all. However,if the...

Not really a surprise. Most I can win on these is the Pointless (usually about £2.10 jp) and then maybe £3 on the Pop Quiz. God knows Joe Public will be giving them a wide berth, finding them to be unplayable and an unpleasant experience of feeling ripped off. Obviously the pubs are finding out the...

Pubs putting a quizzy back in

In the last couple of weeks,I've counted 5 pubs that have put a machine back in.However, this good news was somewhat tempered by the first two not having booted up properly,on the third one the screen wasn't working, the fourth one was that Fat Cat Hotwire line-up which is pretty poor, and the fifth on...

They did indeed refer to the autumn: "The first of these substantial updates will be available before the end of July, with a further release on the Road Map for the key autumn period" but as the latest news story (as of today) is still the one dated June 2015: http://gwhl.co.uk/index.php...
