Yeah Leeds used to be a goldmine centrally...not so much nowadays. That said go north of the centre towards Headingley and you've got a good stretch of 6-7 pubs that all as it stands still have a machine. Tend to find that in a lot of cities now...avoid the centres and head for the suburbs particul...

Ha ha,no I didn't mean literally a pound.I can't remember how much I took out of that one but I can safely put an upper limit of £20 on it,as taking more than that out of a quizzy nowadays is either impossible or counter-productive in my opinion. are there still enough machines around for you guys?...

I guess the fundamental reason is that SWP games offer a lot more playing time for each credit, so they need to take a much higher percentage of the stake to be worthwhile. A fruit machine will use up most credits in a second or two, whereas any decent SWP game should provide a minimum of a minute'...

To my mind, the one thing a quiz machine can offer, that is both suitable from its context and not usurped by better technology, is social play. By this I include 3-4 people drinking, and collectively having a go at the quiz. Maybe a different aspect of social play may be networked Jackpots, but I ...

This must involve some financial outlay.I am reminded of the saying that 'if a job's worth doing,it's worth doing well'. That's the problem though; what cool has written is a wishlist not a business plan. Anyone can demand whatever they want for roads, schools or hospitals if they don't have to fig...

Whining, I don't think so, you obviously either don't play swp's to any significant level or if you do you stand out from the crowd by going around with blinkers on.... I would be surprised if many co-contributors disagree with my points it's just how significant they are. indeed many of them have ...

You might be right about them becoming pro-dominated,bubbles,but I was envisaging games where, say if the jackpot was £50,it would basically be unwinnable until 80 quid or so had gone through it.With huge question banks, and perhaps some time pressure element to the game, that should be possible whils...

I didn't check the Wetherspoons, although that seems to be the final possibility.... It's not had one for years. Sad to hear about the Cat and Canary which was always worth a visit. The final final possibility is the cinema which had one in the gaming area (when I was last there nearly 3 years ago)...

Not sure how anyone can still have any doubt about the future. If you look back through posts it's clear that quiz machines have been slowly and surely vanishing for 5+ years. Plenty of notice given!

I can't tell the difference between the old Pub Quiz and the "updated" one. If its simply an updated question bank I'm surprised that warrants a mention.

The Hangman game is as joyless as you'd expect a FatSpanner /Open game to be. Roll on Phase 2.
